Pottery Barn Scary Chalkboard River Rock

Pottery Barn no longer carries these chalkboard river rocks, but I still love them.  I made them a couple of seasons ago and wanted to share them with you today.

My river rocks are very black and not painted.   So to save time I wrote scary messages directly on the rocks using a white paint pen.  Using a paint pen also keeps the rocks from getting smudged from prying little fingers, if you know what I mean.

If you wanted to go the real chalkboard route it would be super easy.  You can pick up a bag of black river rocks at the dollar store.  You need to pick through them to find a bag with the largest rocks so you have room to write scary messages.  Paint them with chalkboard paint and write scary messages on them with chalk.

I’m adding them to my scary spooky Halloween foyer.
