How cute would Pottery Barn’s Black Glitter Topiaries be with my spooky Halloween décor?
What do I need to make these topiaries? Here’s the list: black spray paint – check, two thrift store topiaries – check, two terra-cotta pots – check, glitter spray paint – off to Hobby Lobby and don’t forget the 40% off coupon.
As you can see I had almost everything needed to make these topiaries on hand. The thrift store topiaries were in little brass containers not suited for this project so I saved them for use later.
The terra-cotta pots came from my stash. I ran a bead of hot glue around the styrofoam bottom of the topiaries and secured them in the terra-cotta pots.
A bit of trimming was necessary near the bottom which had ivy coming up the trunk of the topiaries. Now I was ready to paint.
The black spray paint isn’t pictured but it is from Wal-Mart and is only 99 cents. They always have the 99 cent spray paint in basic colors. I sprayed them completely in black, then I used the glitter blast on the leaves.
The glitter doesn’t show up as much as I had hoped. I think they are even more spooky than the PB version because they are ivy and a bit unkempt looking.
Here they are on the Halloween mantel, but I’m not sure if they are going to stay here. I love how they look with the books and pumpkins.
These could move to the foyer before Halloween. What do you think?
