I won the charming lighted jack-o-lantern at the Southern Bloggers Conference in Raleigh in October 2012 from Living on the Bliss.  Living on the Bliss is a quaint little Vintage Store in downtown Southern Pines, NC.  The Southern Bloggers Conference was my first experience at a blogging conference and I loved it.  I have been to two more blogging conferences since then.  Earlier this year I attended the SNAP conference at Thanksgiving Point near Salt Lake City Utah and then closer to home I went to Haven here in Atlanta in August.  I highly recommend all of them.

Finally this week I found some Boo pumpkins at Kroger.  They didn’t have very many so I scooped up a few.  Next year I’m ordering them like so many others did this year.

The BOO wall hanging was Pinterest inspired.  The letters came from Hobby Lobby at 50% off during one of their weekly sales.

I tied the letters together with raffia and hung it over the mantel.  What could be simpler?

If you saw the mantel in progress, the Dollar Tree giant spiders are no surprise.

My sad owl painting didn’t make the final cut for the Halloween mantel, but rest assured he has a place of prominence in the family room.  He was a thrift store find last year and I just adore him.

  1. Very nice! Do you have any suggestions for someone who doesn’t have a mantel?

    • My kitchen has a built in desk that no one uses and I sometimes decorate it for the current season. Also, some folks who do not have a mantel add a long shelf and decorate it as if it is a mantel. Basically anywhere you have a flat surface with a little bit of length you can create beautiful seasonal vignettes. I bet you have a perfect place in your home you haven’t even thought about yet.
