The Nickel Tour – Christmas 2013

Christmas decorating is going slowly for me this year but I am going to share a few rooms with you today.  Since I shared my Dream Tree here we are touring the bedroom first.  I added a white Santa to the Dream Tree vignette.

I love vintage bottles.  My daughter found this one for me last year.

Peace on Earth

The white nutcracker was an after Christmas buy at Target last year or the year before.

I ordered the zinc angel tags from Décor Steals when they were offered a few weeks ago.  Actually, I have a hard time not ordering more than I do from Décor Steals.  They always have the greatest offers.

The paperwhites were a gift from Carmen (the Southern Living plant expert) who taught the wreath and container design class at Rhoda’s house last week.  More to come about the class.

Aqua and white ornaments are gathered in a metal plant basket.

Now we are moving on to the Family Room.   With the bookcases loaded down on either side of the mantel I decided to keep the Christmas Mantel simple.

This globe is sitting on the green base but it isn’t attached.  You can pick it up to see different countries on the globe.  It’s a thrift store find.

You may recognize the dark coasters from my 31 Day Pottery Barn Inspired series.  See the tutorial here.

You probably have guessed by now that I adore bottle brush trees.

Don’t you love the little red truck I found at Wal-Mart?

There is definitely more to come in the kitchen but here are a couple of photos.

My grandmother’s dough bowl makes a charming centerpiece with some greenery and baubles.

There is a little bit going on in the foyer.

  7. Your home tour is beautiful! I love that mounted steer head. Is it ceramic? I’m sort of wishing I hadn’t read about the Decor Steals though. That could get me in a lot of trouble;) Thanks for linking up to the “Really Last Minute Christmas Link Party!”

  1. […] It started with the small Christmas trees that I picked up in thrift store earlier this year.  There were three exactly alike in little galvanized buckets.  They were less than $2 each so I couldn’t pass them up.  I tried them in ironstone urns that I have but without taking them out of the buckets they wouldn’t fit so I placed them in some large black urns that I have.   I used the third tree on the little wicker table as shown in my Nickel Tour here. 2. […]  Here is how everything looked as I loaded it in the back of my SUV the day of the party.  The paperwhites were a gift from Carmen.  You can see how I used mine as part of my Christmas decor in this post. […]
