The 30 Day Room Challenge Is Over

Well it is June 30th and my new office/craft room is not complete but nothing in my house is ever really finished.  I am constantly changing things and moving stuff around, I’ve been this way all my life.  Even as a teenager I constantly rearranged my room and changed out my accessories.  It drove my Mom crazy.

So here are the before and after photos.

I love globes, what can I say.

Drapes here on the windows behind the desk will enhance and soften the space.

I love the natural light pouring in through these two windows.

Builtins Partially Painted

This is the most disappointing part of my makeover.  The built-ins proved quite a challenge and painting them was an epic fail, but I am not throwing in the towel yet.  Check back to see how I turn this failure into a success.

There is much more in the works for this space and I will do a final reveal, but mind you I decorate slowly.  I love this quote from Myquillyn Smith, The Nester “SLOW decorating is a HUGE part of creating a space that serves you and your family.”  You can read her post about slow decorating here.

To Do List

Complete painting built-ins

Hang the drapes (from Ikea)

Style the built-ins

Set up the alcove as a wrapping center

Purge and organize craft supplies

Wall décor (projects in the works)

Paint bentwood hat rack for my collection of straw hats

I’m sure more items will crop up as time goes by.

Thanks to Serena for the inspiration and her undying encouragement.
