For these last three weeks leading up to Christmas Thursday Thrifty Treasure is going to be about how I use some of my vintage and not so vintage thrifty finds to decorate my house for the holidays. The only rule I gave myself is that everything used in the décor is a product of my unrelenting thrifting/antiquing habit.
This week it is a giant snow globe in a Fountain Jar accompanied by Santa and a deer.
When I found a rather large Fountain Jar sitting on the shelf at Goodwill I quickly placed it in my cart. I knew exactly what to do with it. On the same day at the same Goodwill this little Putz house was sitting prettily on the shelf with the seasonal décor. People ignored it because the windows where missing, but not really. When I picked it up I could see the little windows laying in the bottom of the house. I thought that I could fix them and fix them I did. It was a little tricky but with some perseverance, tweezers, and glue the windows are back in place.
It even has a tiny wreath on the front door and
a round hole in the back just the size for an old school Christmas light bulb to fit through.
First the snow went in the jar then I added the Putz house.
It needed a few more bottle brush trees. So I added six more.
The pretty deer came from my grandson’s stash of wild animals. He has a couple of cars that I plan on borrowing soon.
You remember the adorable Santa planter I found a few weeks ago and shared in TTT Week 14, well he never made it to the antique mall.
Santa is holding my favorite bottle brush tree.
So all together they make a charming little Christmas vignette.
