Do You Collect Picnic Baskets Too?

Baskets are in the forefront of my mind these days, so today let’s talk about collecting picnic baskets.  If you follow me, you know I have a thing for picnic baskets.  In fact I have a bit of a collection or obsession.  I’m not sure which.  What about you, do you collect them too?

Picnic Basket Title

These two shabby white baskets have served me well.  At one time or another they have been in almost every room in my house.

Green Redmon Picnic Basket

The green and white Redmon picnic basket was a recent thrifting find that I shared with you in TTT Week 40- Vintage Finds.

Nesco Picnic Basket

This adorable metal picnic basket was an ETSY find a few months ago.

Wicker Suitcase

I love that this one looks like a little suitcase.

CLF Upcycled Picnic Basket

I didn’t buy this pretty basket at the Country Living Fair but it did inspire me.

Jo at Anne’s Attic Design recently posted about Refurbishing A Vintage Basket to use in her kitchen.  Isn’t it the most adorable thing?  Now I’m even more inspired to make an altered picnic basket.

This Redmon is the first of my picnic basket collection.

Picnic

Even though I already had a green Hawkeye picnic basket I scooped this one up for the booth.  It sold rather quickly.

Vintage Picnic Basket

This vintage picnic basket is one of my favorites!

World Market Metal Picnic Basket

This metal picnic basket isn’t vintage but I couldn’t resist it.  It came from World Market last year.  They still have it and it is on sale for $12.59 here.  If you want it be quick, because I don’t know how long the sale lasts.  (not a sponsored post)

Picnic Basket

My husband and I had a picnic basket like this one that we took to outside concerts when we were younger.

Apple Basket

This personalized basket is a great candidate for making an altered picnic basket like the one I saw at the Country Living Fair.

I’m glad you stopped by today to see my picnic basket collection and answer the question “Are you obsessed too?”.  If you don’t already subscribe to my blog be sure to sign up by e-mail on the side bar or Hello bar at the top, that way you will never miss a post.  I would love for you to follow me on Pinterest here and Facebook here.  Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

    I LOVE them !

  2. Your post turned out so lovely and what great ideas. Thank you for featuring my basket it loves to go from place to place! lol Jo

  3. I do love picnic baskets but end up selling most of them… except the first one I ever purchased to actually use for a real picnic! 🙂

  4. I don’t collect them but I love finding them and putting them in my booths. Now that I see the altered ones, I might just have to make one for me!

  5. As a matter of fact I do 😉 They make such pretty storage! Yours are fabulous!

I don’t, but I should! My hubby and I received a picnic basket as a wedding present and I still love it 14 years later. You’ve inspired me to add these to my list of things to look for at sales.

One of my favorite collections are my tin and wicker picnic baskets! I finally passed up one wicker one last week, thinking that my stack is high enough. I have three metal ones, but would doe for a red plaid! Have quite a few red plaid thermos containers, but no tin yet. What a fun find it will be the day I discover one! I am going to check the one out at World Market and see if it’s still available. Love what Jo did with hers! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

Hi Sharon, just hopping back to let you know that I am featuring you at SYC today. Also, off to get a tin from World Market. They are holding one for me. Thanks so much!

  9. Hi Sharon – I saw that we were featured together on two different blogs today and we both shared about baskets! Your post reminded me that I have a picnic basket that I’d totally forgotten about. It looks a lot like your little duck egg blue basket except I haven’t painted it yet. I’m grabbing the paint right now so I can paint while we enjoy the rest of the evening.

Thanks for the inspiration and blessings to you,
    Patti
