Friday Thrifty Treasures Week 57 Vintage Finds

Boy time is flying and it is going to be Christmas before we turn around.   Once October rolls around it all a whirlwind until New Years Eve.

FTT Wk 57 Title

So let’s take a look at this week’s finds.

Ice Skates

Ice skates sell well at the booth during the Christmas season so I snapped these up at a good price.  I like that they have the red blade guard.  After I add some red bells they will fly out the door or booth that is.

Fiesta Platter

I rarely pass up a white/ivory platter because they are one of the best-selling pieces in my booth.

Fiesta Platter label

It is Fiesta by Homer Laughlin made in USA.  It has the round embossed marking, so it is a newer piece.

Copper Colander

A copper berry colander was one of my favorite finds this week.  I need a berry colander so this one is a keeper.  It is also a newer piece but it fits right in with my kitchen decor.

Flip top table

This small tilt top table is in desperate need of a make over but at $3.95 it is definitely worth the effort.  It is getting flipped shortly then its off to the booth.

Flip top table 2

This cool little table is probably from the 1970’s.

Donnie Crate

Still not sure if this is going to the booth yet, I may need to use it a bit first.  The stamp on the end of this vintage crate is DONNIE BRAND, SAM ANDREWS’ SONS, HOLTVILLE, CA.

Donnie Crate 2

The overall size is about 24 1/2” X 13 1/2” X 13 1/2”.  So my Donnie cantaloupe crate is pretty big and quite rustic.

Enamelware Basin

I’ve been looking for a vintage chippy white enamelware basin with a red rim for a while.  Enamelware basins like this one are from the 1940’s or 1950’s.  Cant wait until Christmas to use it.

Marble Cheese Board Domed

Cheese anyone?  The black/grey and white marble cheese board with a glass dome is probably from the 1970’s.  I plan to use it to serve hors d’oeuvres during the holidays then it may go to the booth if one of my girls don’t scoop it up first.

Don’t forget the Vintage Charm party that started yesterday.  It doesn’t close until Monday so there is still plenty of time to link up your posts.

The things you find sure do warm cockles of my heart, miss all that good stuff so much. Midwest and MT has it all.
OH would I love to go junking with you sometime. Seeing all your goodies makes me home sick for KY even tho we only lived there for 5 yrs. Miss my house there too. Wish could have brought it with us. I love all your goodies. I had quite a great collection of enamel ware but had to sell most of it after we moved here. Kicking myself all way back to KY. I’d sure love to take trip there to shop in little town called Smith’s Grove, (north east of Bowling Green) go to one of their season shows, ah the awesome goodies I’d find. Not here in western CO tho. Too expensive here, for me anyway.
    ENjoy rest of week

    • Thank you JaneEllen. I think I want to move out of my house into something smaller but when you talk about missing your old home it gives me pause. Fortunately I don’t have to decide today.

  4. Love those ice skates, Sharon!

  5. Jann Olson says:

Sharon, Really great finds! The red guards are awesome! Don’t usually find them still on. I rarely find any ironstone so I would have snagged that up in a hurry as well. The colander is perfect for you and I have a collection of the white and red enamelware. One of my favorites! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  6. Great finds! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

  7. Some great finds! Love the ice skates and yes, they do fly out of the booth… am starting to miss ours! Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for participating each week in “LTV!”

  8. You found some great things this week. I love the enamel basin and the ice skates scream winter! Have a great week.
