Around My House These Days

Today I’m going to share a bit of  Valentine decor sprinkled around the house.

Around My House title

I hope you enjoy the tour.

Heart in tea towel

My Ikea Hack In Three Easy Steps is   No, I haven’t decorated the sun room yet but this little heart brightens the space and inspires me to get busy.

Ella Mae dressed for Valentine

Ella Mae moved to the Dining Room as part of the dining room makeover.  Progress so far is that the wallpaper is gone and the walls are freshly painted.  There is still a lot of work to finish the makeover.  Decked out in vintage inspired valentines and a crown Ella Mae looks lovely in the freshly painted dining room.

Adorable Valentine

I found this little guy the most charming vintage valentine.

Crystal heart

The crystal heart once held a small clock.  The clock stopped working and I placed one of my vintage brooches in the spot that previously held the little clock.   This particular brooch belonged to my mom.  It was a favorite of hers and she wore it often.  It is from the late 1950’s to early 1960’s.   Behind the crystal heart is a rhinestone card holder with a vintage valentine card.

Valentines times two

The honeycomb valentine decoration added even more charm to the vignette on my bedside chest.  The honeycomb is very delicate so I don’t know if I will keep it open.

All You Need Is Love

You may remember this Pottery Barn Inspired Valentine Art from last year.  This year I have it on a clip board surrounded by a vintage folding ruler.

Sweater Vase

I’m sure you’ve seen the sweater covered vases in blogland so I’m not going into how I made it.  It suffices to say this is one of the easiest projects that I have ever done.  To compliment the sweater vase I added a small flower frog with a vintage valentine.

Boxwood Heart

I popped this little rose heart into a small boxwood wreath and hung it on my TV cabinet (sans TV) in the family room.  Not exactly vintage but a fun way to display some Valentine love.

Platter of Valentines

In the foyer I placed a white ironstone platter filled with vintage inspired valentines on top of a stack of baskets.

Rose Balls

These three rose balls just screamed Valentine’s Day to me when I found them in one of my favorite thrift stores.

Annie E's Heart

Annie E looks quite glamorous with her gold heart pin.

Always

Sharon

Q&E Valentine Project – Vintage Style

Comments

  1. like that wreath with heart rose center.

  2. All very fun. Love the dress from with the Valentines close pinned! Too bad we can’t taste the candy though! Ha!

  3. Lovely Valentine’s decorations, Sharon–so many beautiful vintage and vintage-inspired cards; I love them all! I always enjoy seeing your mannequins–no matter what they are “wearing!!” I agree, the rose balls are wonderfully Valentine-y 🙂

  4. I can only imagine what your home is like with all your delectable collections and mannequins, they are delightful ladies. I have always loved the vintage greeting cards, the graphics are precious. Sure do bring back many memories from looking at yours. I think when we lived in KY I found some old cards at antique shop but have no idea where they might be if I even still have them.
You are so lucky to have your mannequins to dress. Love that brooch of your Mom’s. I have couple of my Mom’s also, one is very pretty, is real silver in shape of flower on stem with leaves, to me they are very special. I’m much too sentimental about things like that but what the heck, if that’s worst thing I do…
I can do alot with arm but can’t seem to stretch it out in front of me and hold it up high enuf. Surgeon sent message to physical therapists to put on pressure as am at point it’s either get it right now or it’ll be stuck that way. After having therapy last week am about to say let it be stuck, can live with how it is. Was so painful and now have to have p/t twice a week. Not looking forward to it but will try to make it thru best I can and hopefully have some results.
Have to see surgeon on 23rd. and know she’s going to be upset with me. Am doing all I can at this point.
When I had knees done couldn’t get range of motion as they wanted while in pt but eventually just in living life and doing they got better so figure it’ll have to be that way this time also. Not everybody can be what they want at the time. Flimsy excuse I realize but that’s how it is. Thx for wish for recovery.
Plugged in heater so better get my shower before the news. If I wait til after news am too tired and get cranky. Is that part of getting older or am I just an old grouch? lol. Happy week Sharon.

    • Thank you Jane Ellen. I am happy to hear that pt is coming along even if you still have a bit to go I know you can do it. Happy to hear that I’m not the only one who needs a heater in the bathroom.

  5. Pretty Valentines decor, Sharon…I love the charming Statue of Liberty Valentine!

  6. Hi Sharon I love your lovely Valentine touches they so unique. Have a wonderful week. XX Jo

  7. Such sweet valentines! The vintage ones bring back memories oif my childhood, where my Mohter would display Valentines she and my Father exchanged during their marriage.

  8. Everything looks lovely Sharon ~ you have a great collection of vintage valentines!

  9. Sharon, I love all the little touches of Valentines. My favorite is the clipboard and folding ruler shaped like a star.

    xo Dianne

    • A star was all I could come up with for the ruler. I wanted to shape into a hear but couldn’t figure out how to do it. If someone knows how, please tell me.

  10. I really like the boxwood wreath and the little red rose balls, as you said perfect for vanlentines.

  11. Love your sweet Valentines décor Sharon. I have a weakness for Vintage Valentines. Cute way to display them on your mannequin! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

  13. I love each of your sweet Valentine touches.

I’m kind of sad that I need to remove all my hearts this week, but there will be a few tucked here and there.

    Thanks for Sharing Your Cup!
