Vintage Fascination No. 127

Welcome to Vintage Fascination.  Summers are always hard for me to find the time to go thrifting.

So I only have one vintage find to share this week, a tin globe with astrological signs on base.

It is a mid-century Ohio Art Company metal astrological globe.

My new to me tin globe joins the globes in my collection.  Here are a few of them:

I love the muted colors on this globe.

Look at some of the country names on this globe.  So many have changed since this globe was current.

This light aqua globe is one of my favorites but it isn’t in the best shape.

This is a newer globe but it is going to get a makeover soon.

I even made a globe bowl.

This is another Ohio Art globe and it is a bank too!  Here I was using it on my ladder Christmas tree back in 2014.

I even have a tiny globe key chain.  This little globe was on my junky Christmas tree also in 2014.

  1. Oh Sharon, surely you need to make some space so will sell couple of your wonderful globes? Well, a person can hope.
Our daughter and family were over week or so ago and as a parting shot out the door she tried a guilt trip, telling me her college daughter needs a globe. My quip back was great then you should be able to give her one of several of yours. She said I was being selfish, in a nasty tone of voice.
I waited for long time to find globe I could afford, not in best shape but was happy to have it anyway. Told her she’ll have to wait til I croak. She’s always fussing about my “stuff” and having to clean it out when I croak. Does she know something I don’t? Am in good health mostly, not ready to croak. She nags me mercilessly til am not that happy to talk to her or see her. Do I go to her house about her housekeeping, no.
What you did find was a jewel, love it, is great globe, great eye as always. Enjoy your new entry to your globe collection. Have wonderful rest of week

  2. Love the new globe! I found the exact one in a flea market years ago for a few bucks. I’ve had it ever since!

  3. I love gloves, too! I think ours is somewhere in storage or our son has it with him. He loved it best. When I was growing up, we had one in Hawaii and it was fun to feel where the mountain ranges were! It was played with a lot as we played Barbies or with these koala bears my three brothers and I had. I know it finally bit the dust as we played with it too much. Sure sparked my wanderlust to travel, during its short life!

    Thanks for a fun post,
    Barb 🙂

p.s. I did post several photos off to Pinterest for you! <3

I love globes, too. I found one at the antique mall for only $10. It almost made the clerks want to fight me over it. I was overjoyed, of course. No one gets a full-sized globe in great condition at an antique mall!!!!!!!!!! But, I did! And, I want to be greedy. I want MORE!

Your diverse collection is wonderful! May you find many more…except in southeastern coastal North Carolina or wherever else I may be!!!

Wonderful find! I love globes as well.
    Hugs,

  6. I’m a globe over myself, as you know:) I’ve never seen one with astrology signs on it, pretty neat. I remember that globe bowl, love it! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home

  7. That’s a fun globe–I haven’t seen one like it!

I love to hear what you think.
