My Favorite Vintage Finds in 2017

My favorite vintage finds in 2017 are all things that I loved so much that they not only came home with me they are here to stay.

Welcome friends .  Come along with me to see my favorite vintage finds from this past year.

Vintage Shawnee Puss & Boots Salt and Pepper Shakers

A little group of us went to one of our favorite thrift stores and I found several things  I really wanted but only two things came home with me.  One was this adorable Shawnee Puss and Boots salt and pepper shaker set.   They were a great price so they joined my growing collection of vintage salt and pepper shaker sets.  They are from the late 1940’s or 1950’s and one shaker still has a cork stopper.  I love Shawnee pottery and have a small collection of pieces that I collected over the years.

Vintage Sears Adjustable Metal Roller Skates

These skates were on everyone’s Christmas list back in the day.  Still, in the original box, these Sears adjustable metal roller skates with red leather straps are just rusty enough to give them a great patina.  They fit girls size 10 to women’s size 6 or boys size 9 to men’s size 5.  The price of these skates when they were new was $5.99.

Vintage Ohio Art Metal Astrological Globe

You know I’m a fanatic when it comes to globes.  So when I found this cool vintage mid-century metal astrological globe I was ecstatic.  It sits on a tin base with signs of the Zodiac around the base, and the base measures 6-1/2 inches across.  Made by the Ohio Art Company of Bryan, Ohio, this sweet little globe is in excellent shape for its age.

Vintage Imperial Glass Milk Glass Luncheon Set

As my daughter and I walked into our local Goodwill I spotted a huge lot of milk glass in the display case.  I hustled over to check it out.  It is a luncheon service for eight with lots of extras to go with it in Imperial Glass’s  Vintage Grape pattern. The price was good and it was senior day with 25% off so how could I not take all this milk glass goodness home with me.

Imperial Glass Corporation founded in 1901 located in Bellaire, Ohio became a subsidiary of Lenox, Inc., in 1973.  It sold to Arthur R. Lorch in 1981 eventually going bankrupt in 1984.  Imperial Glass produced this pattern from 1950 until 1980.

Vintage Vanity Set

I found a beautiful brush and mirror at Scott’s Antique Market.  The dealer originally priced the three-piece set at $50.  I walked away but the set stayed on my mind all afternoon.

When we were ready to leave I decided to go make the dealer an offer of $30.  Much to my surprise, she accepted.  She had an outside booth and was ready to pack up to go home due to heavy rain expected here the next day.  I photographed them in a vintage platter with complimentary colors since I don’t have a dresser tray large enough for the mirror and the one with the set is too small.  So a larger vanity tray is on my list of items to look for while thrifting.  I haven’t found a suitable one yet.

Vintage Wicker Brief Case

This vintage wicker brief case is a very charming vintage piece.  The label reads Formez but I can’t find much information about it.

It is from the 1960’s.  It has a leather handle and a leather strip across the bottom with little brass feet.  It has brass locks, but unfortunately, there isn’t a key.

Vintage Receipt Holders

Cast iron receipt holders/spindles were on my wanted list for a long while.  Finding this set of two tickled me pink.  The larger spindle has a green ornate iron base.  It measures 6 1/2 inches in height with as 2 1/2 inch base marked “Made in USA”.  The smaller spindle is 5 1/4 inches tall with a bronze color base.  I intended to use them for a Christmas project, maybe next year.

Favorite Vintage Christmas Goodies

I found an old homemade Christmas wreath that is falling apart but it has a bunch of vintage picks.  So, I am taking it apart for the Christmas picks. A few of the picks are photographed above.

Vintage Santas

I found a couple of vintage Santas in November and they were an inspiration for a Christmas tablescape.

Vintage Yarn Santa, Colored Bulbs, and Ornaments

favorite

I found these vintage ornaments, colored bulbs, and a yarn Santa at one of my favorite thrift haunts.  They all came together to make a nice Christmas vignette.

Thanks for joining me today to see which of my vintage finds in 2017 were my special favorites!

Always
