Treasures I Never Pass Up at the Thrift Store

Apparently I am not the only one who remembers when I was a kid playing pirate treasure hunt?  Thrifting is my grown-up treasure hunt even though I don’t normally hide the treasure myself; however, I occasionally run across a prize that I donated.

Fire King ~ Candle Glow Vintage Fascination No. 124

Pyrex is getting hard to find at a good price.  So this year I bought some Fire King and Federal Glass casserole dishes.

Federal Glass ~ Blue Daisy  Vintage Fascination No. 137

vintage copper mold

Vintage Fascination No. 134

Metals are always a happy find.  I am rebooting my copper collection so I am happy with this find back in August.

Vintage Fascination No. 111

Silver baby cups is a new collection that I accidentally started in 2017.

Vintage Fascination No. 117

Not a lot of ironstone made it home with me this past year.  This memorial plate was a must have since it is a Georgia souvenir.  It is a souvenir of the historic home of George Walton a signer of the Declaration of Independence for Georgia.

Kitchen Tools

Vintage Fascination No. 131

It is hard to believe that I found all these kitchen tools in one week.

Vintage Tools and Toolboxes

It was not a good year for finding vintage tools and toolboxes.  In fact, I didn’t find any or at least any that I wanted to buy.  Since I no longer an active seller I don’t thrift as much or as aggressively; however, tools and toolboxes are always on my radar.

Thermos and Picnic Jugs

Vintage Fascination No. 140

Thermos are always on my radar.

Picnic Basket

Vintage Fascination No. 109

This is technically a bread box but I display it with my picnic baskets.

  1. I enjoyed reading your old posts caz I haven’t seen them all yet! I share your interest in blue and white plates and milk glass! Thanx for the research you share with us! I didn’t know who George Walton was. I live just outside Augusta, Maine, our capital city so the word Augusta caught my attention!

  2. Interesting to see what the most popular post is!

  3. I enjoyed seeing your most popular posts, Sharon! Happy New Year!

  4. Fun post. I love pyrex and blue and white … but I’ve run out of space!!!!!!!!! And, I keep telling myself I need to downsize. Happy New Year!

  5. Pyrex used to be everywhere. Not anymore. Same thing with iron stone. You found some goodies. That clover cutting board is a cutie. Love it. Thanks for linking up to Keep In Touch.

  6. These are tempting for me too… I just can’t figure out where to keep it all. 🙂

  7. I come from Katie’s party — and boy, you had some terrific finds this year! I love the kitchen implements! And I’m a bit of a dish fan. Big sigh!

You and your picnic baskets!:) I’m with you on the tool boxes…..haven’t found any recently either. I love finding thermoses! Here’s to a great year of thrifting in 2018! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home

  10. Mary-The Boondocks Blog says:

Sharon all these pieces bring back so many childhood memories for me. The Pyrex, the thermos, we had all these things in the house. I would have to say the ironstone is my favorite thought. It looks very pretty paired with the blue plate.
