A Rustic Thanksgiving Table

Welcome friends to my Rustic Thanksgiving Table.

Today, I am joining in Katherine’s Corner Give Thanks Blog Tour.

So come on along for some great inspiration.

The base of this centerpiece is a fresh bay leaf wreath from McFadden Farm in Potter Valley, California.  A cake plate holds the faux white pumpkin and mini pine cones.

A few baby boo pumpkins scattered along the middle of the table along with two terrariums holding little faux green plants complete the look.

What is more rustic than a wood slice charger?   A Royal Stafford Turkey Brown, Multi-Color plate and salad plate with a rope and fruit border sits atop each charger.  I bought the first four plates of this pattern about five years ago but this pattern is now discontinued.   So when I realized I wanted more plates my only choice was Ebay.

The flatware has been with me for quite a while.  It was a wedding gift and I still treasure it.  The Mikasa crystal is from the 80’s.   I purchased it myself at Macy’s which was probably still  Davison’s at that time.   Davison’s opened its doors in 1891.   R.H. Macy & Co owned Davison’s for sixty years before the name change in 1986.  Macy’s actually purchased Davison’s in 1925 and in 1927 built a beautiful store on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.  The downtown store closed in 2003 ending the era of department-store shopping in downtown Atlanta.  I have a particular fondness for the downtown Davison’s/Macy’s site because I worked two blocks north of there on Peachtree Street and for ten years shopped there often during my lunch hour.  Even after my office moved a few blocks off Peachtree Street I continued to shop there until they closed.

The napkins are a medium khaki color and work perfectly with the Brown Turkey plates.  They are a plain weave fabric with a hem stitch and mitered corners.  The napkins work well placed between the plates and wood chargers.

  10. Very pretty. I love the rustic chargers with those turkey plates. I also enjoyed your reminiscing of shopping Macy’s on Peachtree. Love that you still use your gifted flatware too.

    • Rita, thank you . I loved both the Rich’s and Davison’s downtown stores. When I was young my Mom, Grandmother and I rode the train to Atlanta to Christmas shop at both stores. I was in awe! It was an experience I will never forget.

Well as usual me and my crazy hands lost my comment. Your table and everything on it are wonderful. Miss my dining room in KY house along with table/chairs/buffet. We had one Thanksgiving meal here with friends from when I worked at SS.We had a great time but mud room was pretty crowded. After that we sold table/chairs/buffet. Many times I miss our KY house, was so nice and roomy compared to this place.
Your dining room and furniture are so nice and your table looks so welcoming and cozy.
Love the lambs ear with pretty turkey dish.
Wishing wonderful Thanksgiving to you and yours

    • Thank you, Jane Ellen. I am wishing for a smaller house. The upkeep on this house is killing me both physically and financially. Maybe one day I can sell it and
downsize. I’ve considered moving to a small island in Florida where my sister is moving when her husband retires. I also have a few friends that live there. Florida doesn’t have state income tax which makes it attractive too. Just in the thinking stage now. Hope you and your hubby have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  14. I love your Thanksgiving table, Sharon! It is a nice juxtaposition between the very formal table and chairs with the sweet treen chargers ~ just beautiful! <3 Happily sharing most of your photos via Tailwind, and I'm glad to have been on the Give Thanks Blog Tour with you!!! Hope your Thanksgiving weekend is a lovely one with family and friends.

    Hello Sharon,
This is Marie @venicebeachqtpie. I participated in Katherine’s “Give Thanks” tour along with you talented bloggers. I absolutely love your Thanksgiving tablescape. From the gorgeous vintage turkey plates, to your beautiful pumpkin/bay leaf centerpiece. The mannequin dressed with an apron is just so charming. All of your rustic touches are beautifully appointed. I also really enjoyed your story about the Macy’s/Davison’s history. Love it all!
I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! ?

  16. Very gorgeous Sharon! I love the bay leaf wreath, the dishes, and the wood slices. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

  17. I have a similar turkey that I tried to sell at our garage sale but my husband wouldn’t let me! (Mine is bigger and takes up SO much space!) Your table is lovely, especially the dishes of course but I also love the chargers. I never knew all that about Macy’s — my brother was a general manager at a Macy’s in Philadelphia for many years. I even worked there as Christmas help after graduating from law school before I got a law job! BTW I recently realized that for some reason I have stopped receiving your blog posts via email so I resubscribed! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
